Enugu Massacre : Please do not retaliate FG begs Ndigbo


Following the recent massacre carried out by the Fulani herdsmen in Nimbo, Uzo Uwani community, area council of Enugu State, on Monday 25th of April 2016. The federal government have pleaded with the residents and the inhabitants of South-East geopolitical zones to be calm, peaceful and patient.

This call came over the weekend, as Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State,yesterday, doled out N100 million to fund Neighbourhood Watch groups in 472 communities to complement the services of security agencies in the state.

Although, the Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, also made the same call in his country home at Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, where he received key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, within the South East zone in his residence.

Onu, who appealed for calm among the people of the zone, charged them not to take laws into their hands as the President had already given directives towards curbing the recent menace of criminality.




According to him, “The President has condemned it; we appeal to our people in the South-East to exercise patience.

Meanwhile, some citizens of the state in the United Kingdom, have offered to assist rebuild the village of Uzo Uwani in Nimbo, as many have offered to rebuild the burnt houses, damaged properties, and donated clothings and food items for the refugees of the community.

The Special Adviser to Enugu State governor, Mrs. Olangwa Eziekwu made the offer when she visited Nimbo refugees at Nsukka stadium where she donated cartons of Indomie noodles, bags of rice, tissue papers, fruit drinks, among others, and promised to bring more in no distant time as citizens of the state in Diaspora would send more relief materials to the victims and the displaced ones of the community.
