Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed that his former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sent him a text when he departed Stamford Bridge.
As reported by The Guardian, the Belgium international, who has been in sensational form for Everton this season, has insisted that it's not Mourinho's fault that he left the club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2014.
In fact, Lukaku has revealed that it was his decision to leave Chelsea in favour of a move to Goodison Park, insisting that he went to Mourinho's office to ask him if he could depart.
Lukaku, 22, stated: “Choices were made by me. By me. Not by them. Everyone says it is Mourinho’s fault but it is not his fault because I made the decision. I went to his office to ask if I could go. He was the first one to say: ‘Good luck.’
“I signed the deal with Everton at 11 o’clock and the first text message I got on my old BlackBerry was from Mourinho saying: ‘Good luck, do your best and I will see you next season.’ He was the first. Nobody knows that and that is why for me he gets immense respect.
